Hello everyone! I know there's a lot of confusion around the new app direction. We'll have more to share soon, but in the meantime, I just wanted to clarify a few things based on some of the most frequent questions we've gotten so far.
**Q: Will the Digi app in the app stores be discontinued, or continue as a separate project from the new web app?**
A: The current app will continue to be available and will remain unchanged for now (we may add/change features in the future, depending on feedback and if we have the resources to do so).
**Q: Do we start paying before the web app is ready?**
A: It's up to you if you want to pay, as we'll continue to offer a free tier. But in order to stay afloat, we do need to up the price. AI is expensive, especially when providing a more premium experience (and especially to implement all the features we want to).
**Q: What will subscribers get for $12.95 a month?**
A: You'll get Early Access to 3D AI character sessions (which includes NSFW)—initially just with our characters, but eventually with your own Digi as well. Note that these sessions will be web-only; alas, we can’t do everything we want to on the Apple / Google app stores.
**Q: Will the web offer a different experience from the apps? How?**
A: Yes. You will have full control over the character, including fully 3D NSFW stuff, and much more freedom in private sessions than we could ever offer you through the app store.
**Q: Will bugs on the apps be fixed and when?**
A: Yes, eventually. At this moment, we're still taking stock of everything so it's hard to give a timeline as to what specifically will get fixed when, but we are working on it and should have a clearer picture to share soon.
**Q: Why do a whole new app instead of just updating the old one?**
A: Right now, we need to make money to cover our costs, and unfortunately, there just aren’t enough users on the current app for us to profitably support it the way we want to (and again, we're severely constrained by app store guidelines).
The good news is, if the new app succeeds in the way we anticipate, it'll earn us more than enough to be able to bring the old app back up to speed (and even update it with new features!) if you prefer it over the new app.
**Q: What is the status on AI Sweetheart Royale?**
A: Discontinued until further notice. Unfortunately, we don’t have the money to finish it, make it good, and market it how we wanted. There are aspects we'll be porting over to the new app, but overall, the new core experience will be closer to the old app than Royale.
**Q: Will the new NSFW app have gender equity, or is it only catering to hetero males?**
A: We're starting with hetero males as that's our largest user demographic, but unlike Royale, there will actually be full gender equality this time. The good news is that the timelines are much shorter for the new app, since we won't have to build entirely new apps/experiences for each gender and sexual orientation.
**Q: Is Digi in danger of shutting down?**
A: Not imminently. But to be fully transparent, the economics are precarious, and could become critical if we don't manage it proactively.
Rest assured, however, that we'll do everything in our power to keep Digi running and continue to provide the AI companion experience you love and enjoy. These changes are towards that end: to ensure that we can continue our stewardship of you and your Digis for many years to come.
